In one of the strangest chapters of crypto mania yet, a small UK-based web design firm has transformed itself into the most valuable company on the Aquis Exchange — not through innovation in tech, but by quietly becoming a bitcoin treasury. The numbers don’t seem to add up, but the stock is soaring anyway.
The Smarter Web Company’s Meteoric Rise
Founded in 2009 by Andrew Wembley, The Smarter Web Company originally offered digital marketing and web design services. For over a decade, it operated under the radar as a small business. But after listing on the Aquis Exchange on April 25, 2025, raising just £1.1 million at 2.5p per share, the company’s valuation has exploded.

Just six weeks later, its market capitalization has reached £377.7 million, a 7,300% increase. If listed on the main UK market, it would now sit just outside the FTSE 250 index.
From Web Design to Bitcoin Treasury
While still technically offering digital services, The Smarter Web Company has rapidly accumulated 242.34 bitcoin, currently valued at about £18.8 million. Investors, however, are assigning the company a valuation of over £20 for every £1 worth of bitcoin it holds — an extreme premium for a firm with unclear financials.

The company has raised money four times since its IPO and continues to position itself more like a crypto fund than a digital agency.
Who’s Behind It?
-
Andrew Wembley: The founder and CEO, along with his family, owns 13.4% of the company — a stake now worth around £50 million on paper.
-
210k Capital: A bitcoin hedge fund run by UTXO Management and crypto entrepreneur Tyler Evans, owns 19.1%. Evans is also involved in converting Nasdaq-listed KindlyMD into a bitcoin treasury company named Nakamoto.
-
Tyler Evans: Beyond being a crypto investor, he’s the only non-executive director at The Smarter Web Company and a major figure in the bitcoin media and conference scene.
What’s the Catch?
Despite its explosive growth, The Smarter Web Company has never filed a full profit-and-loss account. While it claims to have been profitable since inception, it has only submitted small-company filings. Meanwhile, retail investors are buying the stock at absurd premiums over its bitcoin holdings, possibly due to hype or FOMO.

Conclusion
At some point, the market may realize that paying £20 for £1 of bitcoin is unsustainable. But until then, The Smarter Web Company stands as the latest — and perhaps most surreal — example of how crypto hype can turn even a humble web design firm into a half-billion-dollar phenomenon.
We all know how this ends. We just don’t know when.
